Why Shore Mariner Frozen Prawns
Prawns are one of the most popular seafoods in the world. Their versatility and juicy and delicious flavour make them a staple in many New Zealand households.
However, not all frozen seafood products are the same. The freezing process is key to maintaining freshness and quality. At Shore Mariner, our variety of frozen prawns is as good as fresh.
Shore Mariner is a brand of Markwell Foods. For over 60 years, Markwell Foods has provided consumers with only the finest products worldwide, and their frozen seafood is no different. Over 30 countries in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas rely on Markwell Foods to handle their frozen prawn cold chain. These help ensure that our frozen seafood is just as good as fresh, which is why our frozen prawns are always juicy, fresh, and full of flavour.
Shore Mariner offers both raw and cooked prawn options, so no matter what your frozen prawn needs, we’ve got you covered!
Best Practices for Storing Frozen Prawns
At Shore Mariner, we take great pride in ensuring that our frozen seafood is caught and frozen with tight turnaround times to ensure that the products remain fresh. We also take great care to ensure that we partner with trusted supermarkets and delivery services.
However, when you get home, it’s up to you.
There are a few things to remember when storing your frozen prawns. Above all, it’s no secret that frozen seafood can spoil if left at a warm temperature for too long prior to cooking, meaning it’s so important to store your frozen seafood properly. Putting the product in the fridge or freezer as soon as possible after purchasing will ensure that the food remains at its best.
While frozen food lasts much longer than fresh, it’s important to use your frozen prawns within approximately 6 months to maintain freshness and avoid freezer burn.
Guide for Preparing Frozen Prawns
Whether you have raw or cooked frozen prawns will depend on how you prepare them. However, the defrosting process is generally the same.
We recommend storing your frozen prawns in the fridge overnight to safely defrost them. However, if you don’t have time to leave them in the fridge overnight, you can soak them in cold, salted water for about 20 minutes.
